Reply to Recipient from Sent folder
This is a problem we’ve all ran into at least once: you send an email then remember you forgot to add something to the message, so you open the Sent Items folder and click Reply. Except, Outlook addresses the reply message to you. If you’re lucky, you’ll notice it before you send the message; if not, you’ll notice when the message arrives in your Inbox.
Outlook does this because Reply always replies to the sender and you were the sender. There are a couple of ways to work around this annoyance.
The Resend Message command was designed for this scenario but is a couple of extra steps. You’ll need to open the message, go to Actions > Resend this message. This opens the sent message ready for editing, but unlike Reply/Reply All, it doesn’t add another header block. To make it easier to access, you can add the Resend this Message command to the ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar of an open message.
There is an easier way, at least in my option: use Reply All. Outlook will address the message to all recipients. If you use a newer version of Outlook, your own address should be removed from the To field, otherwise, you’ll need to delete your address.
If you need to resend sent message often and can’t remember to use Reply All, you can use a macro to watch for Reply function and if the current folder is the Sent Items folder, add the original recipients to the new message. I have a code sample at Reply to Recipient from Sent folder
Survey Request for System Admin
A student researcher from the University of Maryland is working with the Princeton Computer Science department on a project studying the decision-making processes of system administrators for applying software updates.
They are trying to reach more System Administrators, as they 150 or more for actionable data points. If you are a system admin or know one who is interested in participating, see System Administrators and Software Updates Study for more information and to sign up.
Office 365 RPC over HTTP Support Ending
At the end of this month RPC over HTTP support is ending for Office 365 and Outlook.com subscribers. (On-premise Exchange organizations are not affected.)
While support is ending (‘don’t call Microsoft if it doesn’t work’), the protocol will remain open and existing clients that are connecting via RPC/HTTP can continue to connect. However, the quality of the mail experience may decrease over time. In the future, Microsoft may force all clients that support Mapi over HTTP to connect using it, overriding registry settings that force RPC over HTTP.
